Abstract
As the population ages, increasing number of people are affected by multiple chronic diseases. In order to find out how to increase the degree of medication adherence in patients with multiple chronic diseases, we analyzed the factors influencing the medication adherence of patients through multivariate logistic regression using Korea Health Panel Survey. The study found that when the patients with chronic disease were divided into non-multiple disease group and the multiple disease group, the non-adherence rate was high in the multiple disease group. In both groups, when they experienced side effects and answered 'no¡¯ to drug satisfaction, the level of non-adherence was high. Gender, the number of outpatient treatments and the monthly average drug price were factors that affected the medication adherence in the non-multiple disease group, but were not factors that affected the medication adherence in the multiple disease group. The number of people with multiple chronic diseases is increasing due to the aging population. This study analyzed the difference in medication adherence and influence factors between non-multiple chronic disease group and multiple chronic disease group. This study could be used as a basic resource to increase the degree of medication adherence.
